The South Bermondsey Partnership is a way of working in the neighbourhood based on a partnership between local people, agencies and local councillors to improve services in the area – ensuring local people have a say in what is needed, agreeing a plan for the area, and being part of making sure that the plan is kept to. By putting the needs and aspirations of local residents first it tackles problems which local people see as crucial for the future of the area. This might include better management of the local environment, increasing community safety, improving healthcare and education, and encouraging economic growth in the neighbourhood. The key is that residents’ concerns should be more important in defining what is done than agencies’ assumptions about what should be done.
