Southwark residents and community groups are being urged to start thinking about their neighbourhood and how they want to improve it, as Southwark Council’s Cleaner Greener Safer Programme gets underway.The window for applications to the council starts on October 29 2011 with a closing date of January 6 2012. John Bull Arch and Blue market event

Saturday 20 March 2010 12.00pm to 4pm

To mark the completion of the refurbishment works at John Bull Arch, the installation of the art project developed by Art in the Park and the new market stalls, we are organising an event in your neighbourhood.

Programme:
12.00pm to 12.30pm – Come to Market Place to see:
• Performance by Southwark Tiger Cheerleaders
• Formal opening of the new market stalls and cutting of ribbons
• Unveiling of commemorative plaque & interpretative panel (at John Bull Arch, near the Ancient Foresters pub).

12.30pm to 4.00pm – Come to Market Place where the main event continues:
• Street theatre by Comic Characters
• Performance by Southwark Tiger Cheerleaders
• Musical performance by Rotherhithe &

Bermondsey Choral Society
• Musical performance by the South London

Jazz Orchestra and Southwark Concert Band
• Face painting by local volunteers
• Biscuit baking workshops by Aspire Creativity
• Talk by Peek Frean ex-employees plus coffee & tea served (at the Blue Anchor library)
