Southwark residents and community groups are being urged to start thinking about their neighbourhood and how they want to improve it, as Southwark Council’s Cleaner Greener Safer Programme gets underway.The window for applications to the council starts on October 29 2011 with a closing date of January 6 2012. Black History Month

The Past, present and future of the black community, and the diversity African Diaspora

The Partnership will be supporting an array of activities next month in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe. From history walks to media talks, quizzes to films, mask making to story telling, and not forgetting lots of workshops for young people, there is something for everyone.
Specifically the SBP has joined up with Blue Anchor Library to promote a Black History Quiz evening on October 29 at the library, which will also include a talk from a prominent Black journalist.
